Summer is now behind us, and the calendar has turned to fall. But we’re still reveling in FileTrail’s experience at ILTACON 2022 last month where our “Governance Things” program was a great success!
The entire FileTrail team at the Gaylord National Harbor enjoyed visiting with conference attendees at the exhibit hall opening reception and throughout the week. Congratulations to the winners of our prize drawings and thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth!
We were also pleased to host several intimate networking opportunities including cocktail hours and private dinners while at ILTACON. After being apart (or together only virtually) the past couple years, we certainly enjoyed reconnecting and engaging in great conversation with clients and members of the broader ILTA community.
For many of us, the highlight of our ILTACON experience was the time spent with member attendees and partners in our breakout room, which featured our “Governance Things” program. This included product demos, a presentation of our product road map and several standing-room-only learning sessions led by an impressive roster of industry experts.
Our exclusive series of peer-led sessions on the IG issues and challenges facing legal professionals today featured industry leaders in records management, information governance and IT consulting. These respected experts shared their knowledge and expertise, including best practices for advancing IG programs based on their firsthand experience.
Session topics and speakers included:

This discussion outlined how executing policy, particularly with respect to disposition of records and documents, is where a firm achieves success. Attendees heard about the benefits of following established IG policies and why it’s important to get started sooner rather than later.

Darrell Mervau and Harold Westervelt discuss how law firms are using modern technology to better handle the client file transfers that come with attorneys moving from one firm to another.
Sticking with outdated, “good enough” software technology for records management not only increases your firm’s risk but increases costs exponentially. Without a comprehensive view of all of your information assets, information governance is approximate at best. As the saying goes, “You can’t govern what you can’t see.”
Today, if you’re on LegalKEY, you’re paying annual support and not getting anything in return. Plus, getting an unauthorized browser overlay will cost you money to run the same feature set on a 1990’s database architecture. You’ll still be installing a Windows application for Records and Governance staff. And you can’t get to Cloud.
Information governance leader FileTrail today announced that international law firm Clifford Chance has selected FileTrail GPS (Governance Policy Suite) to replace and upgrade its records management system. Selendy & Gay is a litigation boutique in New York, which is “re-imagining the law firm from the ground up.” As part of this vision, the firm is re-designing its operational infrastructure by taking the opportunity to use the most advanced information governance systems available today, FileTrail.
